Robot of the Month
In a new series, we introduce our Robot of the Month. This month is it the iRobot Braava (too many a’s ?) which is, yes, a Robot mop. We’ve seen robot mowers and hoovers (and babies sitting on Roombas!). Who knew, you can now set your iRobot up to actually automatically mop the floor. Bravo, Braava! It has a precision jet so that liquid doesn’t spray over your furniture.
One of our team recently saw a robot cleaning the floor in Walmart in the USA. It’s amazing to see this sort of technology rolling out in retail environments as well as in the home. However, the requirements are quite different for a robot cleaning a store. The Braava designers focused on a small and sleek look. But, in stores like Walmart, we think something like this will be a real trip hazard. mpro5 already helps protect retail giants like Tesco against false insurance claims for slips and trips. We expect people to make false claims about being bumped into by a robot, or tripping over one! In fact, the robot in Walmart was cumbersome as it was over 6 foot and very slow moving. Will all store cleaning robots need to fit this description?
We’re good at tech, but we haven’t yet integrated mpro5 with a sensor to control the mop – leave it with us though 🙂 We’ve just scoped out sensors for… we can’t tell you…! Yes, it’s a government body… and yes it is for sensors with mpro5… It might be in London, or it might not be…sorry about that but it is top secret. So if THEY think it’s secure, maybe we won’t have to answer the security question to our other clients!
